I disagree.... there are plenty of reasons not to unnecessarily expose
yourself to recruiters. The time to stay out of trouble is before you send
in your resume.
It's better to be selective and not add yourself willy-nilly to every
database in town. I say do your homework and qualify your leads before
adding your resume to the pile.
Some employer's policy is that once you have been presented to them through
one recruiter, you will be automatically rejected if you come in through
another recruiter. In a small enough market, everybody knows everybody
anyway. And if you are at the top of your game, you are in a small market
wherever you are.
OTOH, there are also plenty of reasons to interview for a job you don't
really want, I've done that too.
