I've used VMWare off and on for about four years. Its main advantages are that
you don't need another machine, and that you can easily take screen shots of
installation programs. In fact, I've even been in the position of running on
VMWare the same operating system as on my machine so that I could document the
install program.

Limitations? You want a machine faster than 500 mhz, and a minimum of 256
megabytes of RAM. As big a monitor as possible is also useful if you're
planning to keep swapping between your word processor and VMWare.
