Dan the technical writer excitedly answered the phone, asking, "So,
what are you having?"
"A girl!" his sister Maggie answered. "But we're having difficulty
deciding on a name."
Dan solemnly considered the problem. "Names are very important. Take
SnagIt, for instance," he said. "As you well know, SnagIt is the
leading screen capture software. And its name describes it perfectly
- I can 'snag' anything I need, like toolbar buttons, menus -
anything! Hence the name 'SnagIt.'"
His sister sighed.
"And look at Camtasia Studio," Dan mused. "Cam - like a camera, and
'tasia', like a magical program that lets you record anything you want
on your screen."
"Your point?" his sister asked gently.
"My point is, you should name her something that describes her, and
all your dreams and wishes for what she will do - and what she'll do
well, just like SnagIt and Camtasia Studio!" Dan finished
triumphantly. They talked a bit more and hung up.
Two hours later, Maggie called again. "Tim and I talked your
suggestion over," she said happily. "We've decided to name her . . .
Hope."
Find out how SnagIt and Camtasia Studio live up to their names! Try
