You still have every right to ask. It would be good to know if you are going
to inherit his asbestos-riddled cube under the microwave tower :-)

What I said was:
"You might not ask these questions out loud, but you should be thinking
them:"

Not hostile - skeptical. There is a difference. One is a bad attitude, the
other is critical thinking.
All these questions are questions the interviewer is asking or thinking
about me. If I'm not asking or thinking the same questions right back, I'm
being a doormat.
