Actually, I think any profession where there's as little
consensus between professionals as to what constitutes
"qualifications" as there is among technical communicators
and as little promise of real benefit returned for the
time and effort required to devise, implement and then
personally satisfy whatever certification might result
would be similarly concerned. From my point of view,
my biggest "fear" would be about the amount of time I'd
be wasting; I'm reached the stage in life where I think
I can actually *feel* time passing... :)
