>>I had applied for a position not too long ago and got a phone call
this week. The HR person tells me the process is they
>>have a phone interview first and then if it has good results, only
then do you get an interview in person. Anybody heard
>>of that before?
Yes, when I was going through the process for a tech writing job at
IBM's Rochester, MN facility through Ciber, all of my interviews were
over the telephone, except for a couple with the Ciber folks who would
have actually been paying me. IBM made the final call on who was going
to be working though. I should point out that I lived in Rochester--less
than a few miles from IBM.
I also interviewed with a few Twin Cities (75 miles away) companies
earlier this year, all over the phone except for Unisys.
In addition to that, the three interviews I had for my current position
were all over the telephone. But I should point out that I was
interviewing with people in Texas and in Illinois and that I was still
in Minnesota, so a face-to-face interview was not feasible.
