If the printer manufacturer provides a driver for its
own native language(PCL for HP printers) you'll get better results using that driver
instead of a postscriptdriver.
Having spent a number of years writing documentation for PCL 5 and 6
drivers for HP printers, I can tell you that this is definitely not the
case. Sometimes you have to use an Adobe PS driver to print
successfully. The PCL 6 drivers are better, but they certainly aren't
foolproof.
I suppose I should have said "*usually* get better results."
