Microsoft Word file compression utility. I need to compress a bunch of
Word files. The advantage of this tool is that it creates a
self-extracting Word file. No one else needs the tool to decompress the
files, though you get a warning message about macros and have to enable
them to open up the document.

It seems to work OK (compresses 40-60 MB files to about 70-75% of their
original size), but I'm wondering if there are any long-time users of this
tool who have had any bad experiences with it, or if anyone wants to
recommend another tool or method.

Other options I've considered: replace the embedded Viso graphics with
GIFs or JPGs (would prefer not to do this so ease of editing can be
retained); create zip archives (cumbersome on both ends, and can't control
if everyone who needs it has it); link the graphics instead of embedding
them (not sure if this saves space over embedding, and I don't think I
want to maintain a graphics folder for these docs).

thanks
Michael
