Almost everyone can write.
I read a book on photography a while back in which the author mentioned a
study that was done in which people were asked to rank photographs. When
asked what factors led them to regard a picture as good, almost all
respondents mentioned only one criteria: they recognized the people in the
picture.
Almost everybody can take photographs that satisfy the needs that the
majority of people have for the majority of photographs they view. Almost
everyone can write words that satisfy the needs that the majority of people
have for the majority of words that they read.
Professional photographers and professional writers account for that very
small percentage of pictures and words for which the demands of the audience
are far greater.
There are lots of other activities to which the same division applies, by
the way: driving, cooking, and sports are other examples.
Most everyday writing tasks do not require a professional writer.
