incorrect and deceptive. But "docing" looks weird, and "doc'ing" looks
like the name of an obscure underground Haiku poet. "Doc-ing" comes close,
but still looks bad, at least to me.

Suggestions?

My only serious suggestion is to use documenting or to recast the sentence when you write it instead of speaking it. However, if you insist on rushing in where wise persons fear to tread, the correct spelling is docking, on the model of picnicking.
