See www.managingenterprisecontent.com -- the companion book site for Ann
Rockley's "Managing Enterprise Content: A Unified Content Strategy" for
details about how to avoid the content/format trap (she calls it the content
silo trap, but it's the same problem).

If you do not own this book -- "Managing Enterprise Content: A Unified
Content Strategy" -- get it today. This is the industry best practice and
the strategy documented in the book is being adopted by many organizations.
The Rockley methodology instructs you exactly how to build a content model
for reuse, focusing on the value of the content, not the properties of its
format. Once the model is done, creating a DTD or a schema is much easier as
the data collected in the model acts as a roadmap for the creation of
DTD/schema.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
