When you are writing a paragraph, and you come to the end of a page, FM
splits your sentence (usually in a very awkward place), and continues
the sentence on the next page. You, the writer, do not get much of a say
on where this split occurs.

How have others dealt with this problem?
I'm not sure that I correctly understand your problem, but if all that you want is to prevent paragraphs from being split by page breaks, you can do so by setting a big value for the "Wido/Orphan Lines" property (Paragraph Designer dialog, Pagination tab).
