Hi -
Quick introduction: A few years ago I posted to this list every week or two.
I left when I was made redundant from the IT company I was working for. But
they've survived and I'm back on a freelance basis. I'm documenting network
solutions, both hardware and software. And like most tech writers in a small
company, I'll also do the occasional bit of marketing, web work, and what
have you.
Now, to my query: I am changing our docs so they say 'click' rather than
'click on'. I'm doing this because 'click' is more widely used throughout
the IT industry and because there are instances when 'click on' is
grammatically incorrect. But of course I can't think of a grammatically
incorrect instance. I do know it can be incorrect because I found an
instance about two years ago -- and didn't write it down. I'd appreciate
receiving your examples. I'll add one of them to the updates for our style
guide.
Thanks.
Elizabeth OShea
