I can make some assumptions about the demand for techwriting in India based on the traffic I get to my website. According to the stats for my site, most of my traffic comes from the US. Canada is a somewhat distant second, with India close upon Canada's heels. I am surprised by these stats, but perhaps I shouldn't be. One of my previous clients (a major telecom company) regularly out-sourced work to SW development companies in India.
