I know this is more of a marketing-type question than a technical question,
but since I've been asked to help out the mktg dept, here goes. Maybe
someone else has run into this:

I'm looking for a rule that states whether a trademark symbol should be used
in a direct quote when someone mentions a trademarked product. In this
situation, I am writing a press release and quoting someone who mentions a
third-party product that we resell. We usually use a trademark symbol on
first mention of the product, but it looks strange since the person
obviously didn't say "(R)" ... and a generic equivalent is not acceptable
here.

For example, "We chose ABC software because it offers access to third-party
products such as XYZ (R)," said Joe Smith.

Thanks for any advice!
