Information Design is an element of Technical Writing,
and Technical Writing is an element of Information
Design.

I don't think I know of a single information designer
who functions differently than a technical writer -
it's just a different title for the same work.

As for crafting, I do that at the template form. When
it comes time to produce something, the tempalte
handles everything non-subject-matter about my
deliverable. Time is too precious to be spent fondling
fonts, massaging white space, and such.
