OK, here's the plan:

Goober, you call this guy and tell him you have a marvelous job for him, but
you need three references. Me and two buddies will contact this guy and
offer to provide references for $100 each. That'll be $300 that we can split
four ways, and we can all buy a decent bottle of chamagne for New Year's
Eve.
