Re: texas tech university online graduate program/experience
Hello
I am a two-time graduate of Georgia State University ( Atl, Ga) who is
interested in the online Tech Communications grad program at Texas Tech
University. GSU does not have a formal program in Techical
Communications, so I've taken classes (enough to complete two B.A.'s) to
compensate. Unfortunately, I lack the experience necessary to succeed in
the field. If anyone has any suggestions for experience (pay is good, but
not necessary..I have a job) and comments on the program at TTU, I'd be
grateful.
Confused as ever...
Cloned from another posting:
I think that writing documentation for any of the GNU projects, http://www.gnu.org/projects/ , is a good way for beginning writers to get their foot in the door. Although the pay won't be there, the experience and self satisfaction gained would be very high. Instead of paying thousands of dollars for a technical writing course, why not devote the same time and effort to work on a real project. You will learn to deal with criticism similar to that which exists in the real world, instead of the watered down, polite suggestions from a paid instructor and in the end have something more realistic than a certificate to present on your resume.
