Subject:MS Templates in Windows XP From:"Lisa Wright" <liwright -at- earthlink -dot- net> To:"'TECHWR-L'" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Tue, 3 Feb 2004 15:28:06 -0800
Hi Gang,
I have a very strange situation here. Looked on MVPs, MS knowledge base and
newsgroups, and I'm baffled. It's such a weird situation that I'm having a
hard time coming up with query questions for search engines. Here goes:
I have two templates, a Visio .vst file saved in Visio 2002 format, and a
Word .dot file saved in Word 97 format. OS for the computer where I created
them was Windows XP.
Since then, I and numerous others have created documents/drawings based on
these templates. Different OSs and app versions. Using the tried and true
File-->New-->Select the template method. We get a new document with the
attributes/formatting of the template. Life is happy. No big surprises.
Today, working on two different computers (probably the same install
process) running Windows XP, Word 2002, and Visio 2003, whenever we tried to
open either template, just got a blank document.
Is there some setting on XP that would prompt this behavior? I don't have
they systems to play with, so I need suggestions that I can pass on to my
co-workers. Any ideas?
