Actually, if the scan flags the incoming data as
"relevant," the hiring manager will usually receive a
dump of it in an email. A very ugly email, often with
HTML tags all over the #$%^& thing.
If you are offered the option, always attach a resume
as a plain old ASCII txt file, even if other options
offered include doc or pdf. The automated systems
will usually substitute that for the stuff from the
fields, or at least append it.
