FWIW, I took a writing course (from the Writers Digest School) once
where the instructor used two colors -- blue for editorial changes and
red for out-and-out errors. I found out about this the hard way by
accidentally sending him a manuscripts with a few lines of text that had
faint spots due to what I'm guessing was a bad printer ribbon.

Green works. In traditional publishing, the _editor_ (person making
suggestions to the author) uses a blue pencil and the _redactor_ (person
giving instructions to the compositor) uses green. But we're not in
Kansas anymore and if green does the job for you, feel free.
