If you submit something to the STC for competition, I
strongly recommend you consider the STC as a formal
audience for your documentation before you create the
documentation.
That is, if you consider your regular users and not
the STC judges, then you are starting off behind the
8-ball.

The judges, like you and I, are human and they apply
their technical-writing preferences to what they
judge. Sometimes, they are on the money, sometimes
they don't understand what they are talking about ....
