No, you can't directly save a book as a word doc, but you could try save it
to a PDF and then convert the PDF file to Word.
Is that possible with Distiller?
Or you could save it as html
and open it in word, then save it as a word document.
Yes, you can. But the result is ugly and largely unusable: the formatting
and layout is gone, as are all the graphics.

OK, I've been poking around/searching for the answer, inthe archives here,
on Google, on Adobe's site (not easy), and not coming up with the answer.
Can I save a FrameMaker book as a Word (or even an RTF) file? I'm using
FrameMaker 7.0 on a PC. I htink I applied the latest patch (the version # is
7.0p578).
Have you tried the latest in Help Authoring from RoboHelp?
