Subject:As long as we're talking about "My Style" in Word ... From:Dick Margulis <margulisd -at- comcast -dot- net> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Sat, 01 May 2004 13:10:09 -0400
I get docs from all kinds of sources, and some of them are created on
other companies' templates, with company-named styles--Acme.body,
Acme.heading1, whatever. Or maybe without the dot--Ajax body, Ajax
heading 1, etc.
Somewhere along the line (can't tell you exactly where, or what I did to
reach this point), I'll look up at the style name and, because my own
Body style, Acme.body, and Ajax body all happen to have the same specs,
Word lists a single style called "Acme.body, Ajax body, Body." When I
try to rename the style in the style definition dialog, I can't. When I
try to create a new style to apply to all these paragraphs so I can
delete the style with the funky name, I can't. About the only thing I
can do is start a new document and Paste Special > Unformatted Text to
get rid of all the weird names.
Has anyone else had this experience? And, more important, does anyone
know a way to solve the problem less radical than starting with plain
text and picking a style for every paragraph?
