TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Normally, I would relish the opportunity to learn a
new skill. In this case, though, what they need is a
DBA who doubles as a TW. They need someone to
interpret code and databases. The project schedule
does not allow for ramp-up and the developers do not
have time to hold my hand.
I looked over my contract last night and discovered
that I only owe the 80 hours to the vendor if I quit.
My next question is: do I do what I can until the
client fires me, or do I get the vendor to get me out
so the client has time to get someone else?
