A month ago my department was eliminated to outsource technical
publications. As a result I have been charged with selecting a local
technical writing firm to create our tech pubs. To start this selection
process, I requested information from various companies and now have invited
them to come in and make a "sales pitch" to a team from my company.

Each firm will make their sales pitch, and the team is going to evaluate
each company and recommend their final two companies to me. This team
includes a few in management (my boss and his), but most importantly,
includes representatives from engineering and service that will be heavily
involved in providing information and reviewing the finished docs. The
team's input will be invaluable to me in making my final decision.

We are all first-timers when it comes to working with an outside tech
writing firm. I want to do a good job in holding these meetings and making
them worthwhile. What questions should I be sure to ask of the tech writing
firms as they make their sales pitch?

Thank you for your help!

Dianne
