The 2400X2400 requirement came from the marketing department, who as a
user, has input in the requirements. Keep in mind that some of the stuff
for output needs to be of enough quality for show handout glossy
literature.

I'm involved to make sure that our needs are accommodated in addition to
marketing.

First, I would question your need for a "2400dpi X 2400dpi" color
printer for the uses you have outlined.
