Dan,
One gotcha is that 2003 Visio files are not backward compatible, and you can only save back to version 2002. Then, on version 2002, files are backward compatible to version 2000 and you can save back to version 5, etc.

I've run into this a lot lately because my home computer has 2000, but most of the new machines I'm working on, including the laptop I've got to haul around, have 2003. You can set the default "Save as version..." to 2002, and that will cut down on the "I can't open it" and "Can you print it for me" phone calls.

Um, there might be a few other small things, but nothing's coming to mind right now (coffee's not yet kicked in). I've been using the knowledge base a lot--there shouldn't be too many Visio 2003-specific articles to skim.

Hope this helps!
Lisa

We have been thinking about buying Visio Pro 2002. When I checked three
weeks ago, Amazon (and a number of other sites) had it for $140. Checked
yesterday and found it on one site for $280 -- most sites listed it as
discontinued, or replaced it with a link to their Visio Pro 2003 page.

Anyone know of a reliable, stable place to look for slightly out-of-date
S/W?

Also, if it (sob) comes to that, anyone know if any gotchas in the 2003
version? Up till now, Visio is the best thing MS ever bought, and I'd hate
for them to mess it up.

Thanks,

Dan Goldstein
