SnagIt has an option to capture an object on the screen. I just experiemented with it and it looks like it might do what you want.

Hi, guys...My department has been tasked with creating the toolbar
buttons for the application I'm documenting. I need to create less than
20 buttons.

Does anyone have a favorite graphics tool that is made specifically for
creating buttons and icons for applications that comply with XP
definitions?
