I link all graphics and screenshots in my manuals. I am writing software
manuals, and I usually have to start way before the user interface becomes
stable. Linking graphics has the advantage that I can just replace a
sources when the user interface changes, and all instances of that source
are replaced automatically (as long as I do not change the source name). I
would not like to change embedded graphics in all 200+ to 1200+ pages of my
manuals (even if I had the time to do so)...
