What power? I registered yesterday and I gave no information that isn't
already available through a bazillion other sources. I gave no credit
card #, no SSN, no bank account, nothing other than my name, my company,
my email address, and details anyone with a phone book can find. Not all
of the fields were required, don't answer all of them.

It's a philosophical thing. Some of us don't think that any company
should have that much potential power over customers - even if we have
nothing to hide.

Sounds to me as though Microsoft is hoping to entice more users to
Passport.
