Re: Reviewing FrameMaker documents?
Most people either have Word or WordPerfect or can obtain a copy easily. That suggests a simple, systematic approach to getting your Frame documents reviewed:
- In Frame, export the text to RTF or HTML or some other format the word processor can open.
- Ask the reviewers to open the document in their word processor and use the word processor's commenting or revision tracking features to edit the document.
- Copy the changes manually back into Frame. (N.B.: Don't _reimport_ the reviewed file. Far too much work and risk of error.)
It's cheap, it's relatively efficient, and it works--I've done it.
Although this can certainly be done - I've done it to - it's worlds less efficient than the FinalDraft workflow. IMO, the $399 license fee for FD is well worth it with only one caveat: currently, FD requires IE and Outlook.
