Whoa! I think we've covered this before. I never give out my SS number
until I get a job offer. If they want to do a background check, I'll have
an offer in my hand. If HR asks why it's blank, I just tell them I will
provide it when they offer me the job. Never had an employer say another
word. YMMV.
On the other hand . . .
I just found a job ad today that describes the technical writer as
follows: "This resource will interact . . . " No, I'm not independently
wealthy, but that ad is just scary.
