I agree with the recommendations provided, but I recommend using SEQ fields
instead of manually entering the numbering. Here are some instructions. It
is for RH using Word for the content but the same principles should work.
I also found the following guide for handling numbering. It seemed to work
well in Word, but it did not translate well to RH and so if you're not
planning on using the Word doc for RoboHelp you may want to consider this
option.
The primary place to start is to make sure the numbering and bulleted
paragraph styles are not based on normal. As you stated, it appears the
changes you made cascaded and overrode the numbering. A good overview of
