You can find a lot of threads about the question "linked or embedded images in FM and Word" in the raycomm techwr-l archive. Everything about this topic (and even more) has been discussed many times.
Only my personal opinion: Never use pasted images in Word files, if your document gets larger than 20 to 30 pages or if you are planning to change your platform to FM or anything else in the future.
