I have some el cheapos that I cannot read anymore - CompUSA brand,
about 4 years old. Why I keep them is another story... I gotta take a
better inventory of my stuff and do some serious spring cleaning. I
have some TDK and Sony discs that are about 8 years old (writable) and
are still good. And of course I have music CDs dating back to 1987
that still work fine.

Flash memory I'd be wary of for long-term storage.

If you really want to store things for decades, consider an external
hard drive, plus a CD backup, plus a tape backup, plus printouts. If
it's not of dire importance, consider your data ultimately disposable.
