>From my quiet little corner of the world, it seems that some people
are looking at TECHWR-L only as an email list. Some have
suggested that the Ray's have complicated things by trying to make
it look like a business.
My perspective is that this is not just an email list, but also a
resource for jobs, advertising, opportunity for publishing, skill
enhancement, etc. in the tech writing world. It's as much of a
business as the oft-revered STC.
I don't necessarily take advantage of the services offered by
TECHWR-L, and I suspect many of you do not either. I read the
digest, and try to offer responses where appropriate (and
sometimes, even where not appropriate ;) However, it seems
ingenuous to discount the significance of the business, just because
you don't use its services.
Anyone can start a yahoo email list. However, it's going to take a lot
of effort, dedication, and hard work to keep the business of
TECHWR-L going as it is today.
