>> The whole idea of turning this list over to a board
of directors or any kind of committee-like structure
scares me. Personalities are bound to clash, and the
list and web page will suffer as a result. <<
And turning the list over to a private venture scares me.
Look at the travails of Pacifica Radio a few years ago.
Some one tried to sell a community radio station for
profit, and almost succeeded.
My local community radio station is now "owned" by
the community, not by any one individual.
With all of the Rays' good intentions, things change,
the new "owner" could decide to sell it for the
highest profit, and the listees be damned, and the
whole thing would be worthless to the community and
the new buyer in short order, after the honeymoon
period is over.
The Rays are making every effort to prevent this from
happening, and I applaud them for doing that FOR us.
A committee protects the whole from the dastardly
designs of a despot.
We've gotten spoiled by having a benevolent dictator!
Thanks to the Rays!
