Apart from my messed up google search,

Funny. I just finished typing an apology in another e-mail for the same reason. I didn't realize that using or not using quotation marks would make such a difference.


- I have almost a dozen books from respectable publishers (I admit, some
are from MS Press) that all use file system, not filesystem.

Looking through my book collection, I see that the same publisher uses both, depending on the audience. This seems sensible to me, by which I really mean that that's what I would do.
