Subject:Make it go away!! From:Chuck Martin <cm -at- writeforyou -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Wed, 18 Aug 2004 15:00:24 -0700
The PDF Maker 6.0 toolbar in Word, that is.
OK, I admit I haven't search quite as hard for a solution to this as I
probably should have, but I've tried a few things that have not worked.
I'm using Word 2000 and Adobe Acrobat 6.0. Acrobat adds a toolbar to
Word. OK, fine. I don't want or need the toolbar because I don't use
it's functions often; the Adobd PDF menu is just fine for that purpose.
But I simply can't make that doggone toolbar go away and stay away.
I'll right-click on the toolbar area, clear the PDFMaker 6.0 check box,
and it will go away. For awhile. Open up another Word documet and it's
back. In both document windows.
OK, Tools > Options, Toolbars tab. Clear the PDFMaker 6.0 check box,
click OK. The toolbar goes away. For awhile.
I open normal.dot. Tools >Options, Toolbars tab. Clear the PDFMaker 6.0
check box. The toolbar keeps coming back.
I can find no options in any of Acrobat's configuration to control this.
I can find nothing in the docs.
Making the toolbar reappear after an explicit command to not show is
virus-like activity. It's very bad behavior on the part of the Acrobat
software--and I don't know how to change it. I can't uninstall Acrobat
because I make PDF files. Any ideas?
