CAMBRIDGE... well, what do THEY know... buncha toff-nosed hacks.
I'm with you John... go with the Tech Writing golden rule: if you can leave
a word out and users will still get what you're saying, leave it out. I also
find that using "and then" just sounds makes the sentence sound choppier.
Its one of those situations where the rules are meant to be bent.
