I've always thought that the most workable (both pronunciation and written) was

EssQueEll = the language

"Sequel" / "Sequel Server" = the server

Indeed. I worked with many MS reps and were keen on correcting people
when it comes to the name of their product SQL Server. It is pronounced
"sequel server". I've known that about ten years, but still refer to it
as S Q L server and nobody (besides MS folks) looks funny or confused
when I do. ;)
