I've never tried InDesign. Is the most recent version now
competing with FrameMaker at the kinds of stuff where we've
traditionally preferred FrameMaker?
Last time I paid attention, InDesign was touted as good
for flashy, design-heavy stuff like marketing bumpf, but
was still missing the guts for robust cross-referencing,
indexing, conditional elements, etc.
