When I was 37, I applied for a technical-writing
job and the interviewer said, "We have a young
workforce.  Would that be a problem for you?"
I'm not sure if it's legal to say something like
that in the USA, but over here in Israel it is.
And I think if they're saying it where it's legal,
they're thinking it elsewhere too.

I did get the job and I kept it for eleven
years.  But I don't believe that age discrimination
is imaginary or that it's always defeatable.
