disappearing field results in Word

A particular styleref field in Word 2002 is not
showing results.  (The other styleref fields are
working great.)  
 
Anyone else experienced this?  Is there a fix or is my
file corrupted?
 
It's in a footer.  When I show field codes, they are
there correctly.  But when it's showing the field
results, it's like there's nothing there (won't print
the field results either).  
 
I've reapplied the style to the footer, to the
referenced info, copied the footer from the template
(where it's working fine), I've even rebooted.  Only
thing I can think to do that I haven't tried yet is
reapply the template, and it's after 5:00  ;-).  
 
I've searched the techwr-l archives quickly, found no
similar issues, nothing in Word's help.
