Ed,

I, too, am using gmail...but no floating text boxes. Perhaps it is due
to my use of the Firefox browser...which I find far superior to IE in
that it is fast, flexible, and quite good on rendering
standards-compliant websites.

There is also a plugin available if one wishes to see "IE-specific"
websites in all their non-standard glory.
