Yes, several folks in our group have been using it since it became
available. It really slowed down our computers during the initial
indexing run after installation, but since then there is no perceptible
performance hit at all, and I agree it's a great first start.
I too would like the PDF search functionality, and also I fervently wish
that I could point the indexing engine at selected network drives and
directorires...
