Re: Sequence of academic degrees after a name--any standards?

I asked the librarians at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical
School about this, by the way. They said there is no fixed standard,
and that in the medical field it is most common for the M.D. to be
listed first. Specialties and memberships in medical colleges go after
the academic degrees...although obviously these are not received until
after the primary medical degree is earned as a chronological matter.
The best prevailing theory for putting "M.D." (or D.O., D.D., or other
medical degree) first is that in a conference of physicians, unless
they see the medical degree easily they are not considered likely to
listen! 8:)
