Subject:Searchable HTML Help with Index From:"JohnG" <johng -at- zyxel -dot- com -dot- tw> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Mon, 29 Nov 2004 16:01:07 +0800
We use Word and (mostly now) FrameMaker to create User Guides.
>From these guides, we use Dreamweaver to create standalone HTML files that
link directly to corresponding GUI pages.
We've now been asked to create HTML help that is searchable, has an Index
and works on different operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux etc).
My research has pointed to RoboHelp and Web Works Publisher. Web Works
Publisher Standard comes bundled with FrameMaker but I'm told the
Professional edition is needed for um, well, more "professional" help. I
would just like to ask tech writers of their experiences using RoboHelp and
Web Works Publisher or if indeed another tool could be recommended for this
task.
Many thanks.
John
