1. NJ Institute of Technology (at the time, Newark College of Engineering)
2. Mechanical Engineering
3. After 7 years as a design engineer and 10 years as a test and product
support engineer, joined a company that was "trying something new."
After several unsatisfactory experiences with writers with non-technical
backgrounds, they decided to try developing writing support using
people with engineering backgrounds. After about 9 months as their
writer, I became their first tech pubs manager and have been working
in that role ever since.
4. IMO, fairly bright if you're looking in a HW or systems (HW + SW)
field, less so if you're in SW only or anything that even remotely hints
of "dot.com," or if you don't have a technical background (note: this
is aimed at newbies only; if you're already in the field, a solid track
record and good references trumps "background" every time in my
book).
